Garbage Party - Live
Recorded Live in Portland, OR. @ The Know, Nov 2011
To live during the garbage, to find comfort and empathy in the steaming pile of shit— Exploring the intersection between live improvised electronic music, mash-ups and sample-based [recontextual] media and the classic DJ mix, Ellipse Elkshow‘s first release for the stellar SAVANT imprint is both a document of a live moment and an introduction to the postmodern musical landscape. Garbage Party Live is a (free) contemplative, humorous and relevant sonic experience, inspired by the ideas and memories that pile up around us.
The first installment of the King Question series is an abstract but extremely listenable work that focuses on the human search for meaning.
Certainty - as a concept - is pinned, sliced, and probed by a nearly indescribable mix of beats, noises, and words; samples and bits from radio, television, movies, contemporary music, and field recordings weave in and out, struggling with questions thatare rarely answered.
Volume One of King Question(s) takes a narrow focus on the Nouns of life, more of the "WHAT" and "Where," while "WHY," "WHEN" and "HOW" take the bench for a moment.
But this isn't necessarily about intellectual word-play, at all. This is a DaDa musical sound-collage journey, equal parts minimal and maximal, toe-tapping and confounding. ... an engaging mash-up of thoughts, plans, faiths, and desires that challenges your expectations of music while exploring and exploding your expectations of life.
"the only way to learn is to question."
“you are free and that is why you are lost.”
Ellipse Elkshow's Personal Programming is the Western media landscape, finely sliced into bits and tightly sewn back together. A magnification of the trillions of voices and ideas that come together to create the collage of our personal and social lives.
North American Boat Show -- Agendas
The Debut release from the schizo-phrenic sister project of Ellipse Elkshow. The North American Boatshow provides cancerous reflections on North American politics, culture, and media. Another cut & paste madhouse. Everything collides... from the tiniest bits of cultural waste to the largest bucket of global chaos ever... right here, stuffed together, into a gooey, gorey, vomit-drenched, meticulously organized mess. Originating from a mash of TechnoPop and Death Metal samples mixed with audio about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Full color artwork, collages of death metal album covers and cultural detritus, by Ellipse Elkshow
Filking the Mammal Chain
Created from 2004-2006, "filking" is two discs of infectious melodies, mashed pop, television voices, radios squeeling and skittering rhythms ... dedicated to toxicity and prisons, electricity and religions, and to the new toxic environment. A revelatory homage to our species.
