Fallujah, gITAr's outspoken response to the war on terrorism has been a work in progress since 2008.
It started as a live performance and slowly morphed into a fully edited audio collage album at the beginning of 2010.
Fallujah is the attempt to understand atrocity and terror from a distance and the phantoms that plague our everyday lives. It remembers the crowded, open air markets crumbling under the weight of bomb blasts, the fear that mother's had for their children, the fear and misunderstandings of the soldier, the attempt to ignore, justify, fight back and cry.
This album is empathetic, but claims to only attempt to understand, and to attempt to engage others in this understanding...this rebuilding.
It is a match lit in a dark room in hopes that we all might see, if just for a moment.
"A thought-provoking, genre confounding, headache inducing work, the duo’s album ‘Stuffed’ is appropriately named, firing out snippets of popular culture with nauseating speed to create a kind of warped 21st century tapestry, a map of samples, torn from their original contexts and used to create an appropriately scattershot commentary on the world of today." - Subba Cultura
Rising out of the collage tradition, Gitar [post post poster artists, I Cut People & Ellipse Elkshow] hold their breath and stare critically at the sources of information and entertainment in contemporary Western society. Pop music, advertisements, radio, television and film are sent through the microscope and the meat-grinder, to be reorganized into fun, disturbing, satirical, informative and utterly ridiculous packets of sonic brain food. Consume this, get Stuffed, and see if you're still hungry for prime time.
Stuffed will be released on both Seeland Records and BBT(VS)MM.
Psychedelic Pigeon POP
Psychedelic Pigeon Pop is another sample-based improvisation created and edited in 2010. The album touches on a lot of topics including: the pumpkin man, the economy, nursery rhymes, pork chops and apple sauce, boys who think they're pigeons, chosen blood, blow dryers, and more.
Psychedelic Pigeon Pop was recorded in February of 2010. It was edited by ellipse elkshow and i cut people in March 2010.
Film Candy is a movie-oriented sample-laden hoot. It is the sequel to I Cut People's album, "The Inside Story," this time featuring Ellipse Elkshow.
A slew of movies were sampled to create this non-stop, action-packed fun-filled album that is guaranteed to make you laugh... or have a bowel movement.
Film Candy is an edited improv from 2010, performed live, by Gitar, at Annie's Social Club in San Francisco in 2008.
Nothing Socket was a live set by gITAr performed during the year 2007. Face-melting Cut-ups and improvised media nightmares; These particular tracks were recordings of live performances, later edited by Ellipse Elkshow.
Some of the samples and segments were later used on I Cut People's and Ellipse Elkshow's 2006-2008 albums.
His Name is Nibbles
"His Name is Nibbles" is an album dedicated to the giant elephant seal named Nibbles who was "menacing" the Sonoma County coastline during its conception. This album attaches Nibbles to Beverly Hills 90210 and the recent attacks by Al Qaeda in Iraq. Add some ALF and you get, "His Name is Nibbles." A pop-culture slop fest. News-worthy and ridiculous.
Album edited by Ellipse Elkshow, art by i Cut People.
Pontiac Blueboy is an album about [anti-]drug culture. Created in Berkeley, California in march of 2007, this sample-based improv album revolves around a Dragnet episode that focused on the LSD craze in 1967. The episode was an obvious attempt to deter the youth from experimenting with the popular psychotropic substance.
It's a hilarious ode to old-school drug war propaganda, talk radio, twin peaks and Snow White.
Pontiac Blueboy Comes with a full color art booklet featuring actual pictures of DEA bigwigs doing what they do best...taking drugs and selling them to the public. It will have you rolling.
